Fleet Manager

About the role

The company is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee its fleet of construction machinery, heavy equipment, generators and related assets across multiple projects. The role combines strategic planning, operational oversight and close coordination with project teams, procurement and HSE.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the company’s fleet, construction machinery, heavy equipment, generators and related assets.
• Plan equipment allocation, mobilization, utilization, maintenance and inter‑project transfers.
• Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance, workshops, mechanics, technicians, drivers and operators.
• Monitor equipment availability, productivity, operating hours, downtime and maintenance costs.
• Control fuel, lubricants, spare parts, inventory and equipment‑related expenses.
• Coordinate procurement, rental, repair, replacement and disposal decisions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, registration, insurance, inspection and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate asset records, maintenance history, equipment movements and ERP/DMS data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile/Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field (relevant diplomas may be considered).
• 8–12+ years of relevant experience, including 3–5 years in fleet, heavy‑equipment or plant management.
• Hands‑on experience managing heavy construction equipment and multi‑project fleets.
• Proven ability to lead mechanics, technicians, drivers and heavy‑equipment operators.
• Strong background in construction, infrastructure, EPC or major contracting environments.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, powertrains, heavy equipment and vehicle systems.
• Experience with preventive and breakdown maintenance, workshop management and fuel control.
• Expertise in spare‑parts management, equipment costing and lifecycle cost analysis.
• Proficiency with ERP/asset‑management systems and advanced Excel reporting.
• Ability to analyze equipment utilization, repair‑vs‑replace and buy‑vs‑rent decisions.
