General Manager – Trading Company

About the role

The General Manager will lead the overall management and commercial performance of a trading company. This senior role oversees sales, business development, purchasing, supplier management, inventory, operations, finance coordination and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations across sales, purchasing, warehouse and logistics.
• Develop and implement business plans and strategies to meet company objectives.
• Identify profitable products, negotiate with suppliers and set pricing to optimise margins.
• Oversee inventory planning, stock movement and ensure product availability.
• Monitor gross margins, operating expenses, receivables and cash flow in coordination with Finance.
• Recruit, motivate and manage employees across multiple departments.
• Prepare regular performance reports and present strategic recommendations to the Managing Director/CEO.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Commerce or related field; MBA or Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in a senior commercial or management role within trading, FMCG, distribution, wholesale or related industries.
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets, managing supplier relationships and driving profitability.
• Strong experience in team leadership and cross‑functional coordination.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with ERP or other business management software.
