Head of Civil Engineering – Greenfield Steel Plant

About the role

Prime Steel is developing a new integrated steel plant in Birgunj, Nepal, and seeks an experienced civil engineering leader to own all civil and structural works throughout the construction phase.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all civil and structural works, including heavy machine foundations, mill and furnace foundations, trenches, pits, roads, drainage, and water networks.
• Review and approve engineering designs and drawings from consultants and equipment suppliers, ensuring timely release of foundation drawings for equipment erection.
• Plan, monitor, and control civil contractors regarding schedules, quality, quantities, and billing.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and equipment supplier teams on anchor bolts, embedments, and structural interfaces.
• Oversee QA/QC activities such as concrete, steel, and soil testing, documentation, and compliance.
• Ensure strict implementation of site safety standards and supervise PEB buildings, staff quarters, and labour accommodation.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Civil Engineering; ME/M.Tech in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
• 15+ years of experience in heavy industrial civil construction, preferably in steel plants, rolling mills, cement, or power projects.
• Proven leadership on at least five greenfield projects with responsibility for civil works.
• Willingness to be based full‑time at the project site in Birgunj, Nepal.
