Legal Officer – Brokerage Compliance

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Legal Officer to join our brokerage office. The successful candidate will support regulatory compliance, draft and review legal documents, and provide sound legal advice to internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and finalize legal agreements, contracts, notices and other documents.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and regulatory authority requirements.
• Provide legal advice and guidance to management and internal departments.
• Handle legal correspondence and coordinate with external counsel when required.
• Assist in licensing, regulatory filings and compliance documentation.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting brokerage operations.
• Maintain organized legal records and documentation.
• Support dispute resolution, legal claims and litigation matters as needed.
• Conduct legal research and prepare legal opinions and reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB/BA(LLB)/BBM(LLB)).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant legal experience.
• Sound knowledge of corporate, commercial, contract and regulatory laws.
• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal research abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
• Experience in financial services, securities, insurance or brokerage is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
