Platform Engineering Internship

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Platform Engineering Intern to join our Z1Sandbox team. This role offers hands‑on experience with large‑scale Kubernetes clusters, workload isolation technologies, and production‑grade automation.

Key responsibilities

• Kubernetes Multi‑Cluster Automation: help modernize platform scripts into declarative controllers, custom resources and Helm charts.
• Database Replication & Split‑Brain Safe Failback: monitor CloudNativePG streaming replication and implement declarative sync jobs.
• Gateway & Ingress Routing: configure and test Envoy active‑passive proxies on WireGuard meshes, write chaos‑engine tests for failover.
• Sandboxed Workload Execution: test security sandboxing on worker nodes using gVisor, Kata Containers and Kubernetes resource pools.
• Observability & Operational Tooling: build Grafana dashboards, Prometheus metrics and maintain runbooks and validation scripts.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Computer Science, Software Engineering or related program.
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals (systemd, networking, permissions).
• Familiarity with Docker containers and basic Kubernetes concepts.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting and at least one programming language (Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Strong debugging mindset and methodical documentation approach.
