Province Lead – Karnali Program

About the role

The Province Lead will head the Karnali Program, overseeing provincial‑level operations, advocacy, and the direct implementation of alternative care demonstration and reintegration models. Based in Surkhet, the role bridges field implementation with provincial policy, ensuring alignment with Nepal’s statutory frameworks and partner objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead care reform and alternative care development, promoting foster, kinship, and family‑based care across Karnali Province.
• Support provincial and local governments in drafting and applying policies, guidelines, and strategies for child protection and alternative care.
• Conduct mapping, assessment, and placement of children in need of alternative care, and manage training and monitoring of foster families.
• Strengthen provincial and local child protection systems, including Child Rights Committees and learning hub initiatives.
• Coordinate advocacy, partnership building, and field office management with the Advocacy Lead, Finance & Admin Team, and Program Team.
• Prepare regular reports and facilitate advisory committee meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in child protection, alternative care, or related program management.
• Proven ability to work with government agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders.
• Strong leadership and coordination skills for field‑based teams.
• Experience in designing and delivering capacity‑building trainings and policy dialogues.
