Senior Communication Officer

About the role

The Senior Communication Officer will lead communications and media activities for the IFRC Nepal Delegation, highlighting humanitarian needs and the response of the National Society. The role creates compelling content for diverse audiences and supports the visibility of the Red Cross and Red Crescent network during emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a communications strategy and action plan covering public relations, corporate communication, social media and advocacy.
• Coordinate production of communication products, including human‑interest stories, photography, videography and donor reports.
• Generate and pitch stories to international media, arrange media visits, and act as spokesperson when required.
• Maintain strong social‑media engagement on IFRC channels (Facebook, Instagram, X) and track audience metrics.
• Support the National Society in building its communication capacity through coaching, mentoring and peer‑to‑peer exchanges.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating communications and media activities in humanitarian or disaster‑response contexts.
• Ability to produce high‑quality written, photographic and video content for donor reporting and public advocacy.
• Experience working with national societies and international partners to align messaging and support resource mobilisation.

Required skills

• Photography and videography for field documentation.
