About the role
The Vehicle Mechanic / Mechanical Transport Assistant ensures the Gurkha Welfare Trust’s fleet remains safe, roadworthy, and operational. The role combines technical maintenance, coordination, and senior driving duties to minimise downtime and support safe driving practices.
Key responsibilities
- Perform in‑house preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and independent technical assessments of fleet vehicles.
- Plan, monitor and update maintenance schedules while overseeing outsourced repairs and verifying costings.
- Maintain accurate records of fleet safety, compliance and maintenance activities.
- Carry out senior driving duties and mentor drivers to promote safe driving and efficient fleet utilisation.
Required profile
- Minimum three years (36 months) of experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experience in senior driving and driver mentorship.
Required skills
- Preventive vehicle maintenance.
- Vehicle diagnostics and repair techniques.
