Account Officer – Internal Accountant

About the role

Join Ghothane Lawyers as an Internal Accountant responsible for safeguarding the financial health of both Nepalese and Australian operations. You will manage the full accounting cycle, from invoicing and collections to payroll and statutory compliance, while working in a collaborative international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Receivable for Nepalese and Australian operations, including invoicing, collections, and credit control.
• Process supplier invoices and oversee Accounts Payable.
• Maintain accurate financial records using Xero, Smokeball, Tally and other business software.
• Run monthly payroll, ensuring compliance with SSF, TDS, VAT and Labour Act requirements in Nepal.
• Prepare statutory reports, perform bank and ledger reconciliations, and support month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Monitor expenses, uphold internal financial controls, and assist internal and external audits.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (completed).
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of Nepal payroll, SSF, VAT, TDS and Labour Act requirements.
• Ownership mindset, high integrity and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Experience using Tally.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks.
• Knowledge of Smokeball (advantage).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
