Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Core Platform team, building the high‑performance APIs and micro‑services that power our banking integration platform. You will collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and financial institution partners to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that handle millions of transactions each day.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event‑driven micro‑services using Node.js, Go, Java or Python.
• Build and optimise core banking integration layers for real‑time transaction processing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical requirements and system architecture.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance and performance of mission‑critical financial systems.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior engineers and champion engineering best practices.
• Participate in on‑call rotations and incident response for production environments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Node.js, Go, Java or Python.
• Experience with distributed systems, micro‑services architecture and message queues.
• Solid understanding of relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis) databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
