Technical Specialist – HIV

About the role

The Technical Specialist – HIV will support program management, capacity building, and on‑site clinical mentoring for implementing partners in Nepal. The role ensures delivery of high‑quality HIV testing, treatment, care, and support services, with a focus on advanced HIV disease, viral load optimization, and patient retention.

Key responsibilities

• Identify technical support needs and coordinate with the EpiC Nepal team.
• Provide back‑stopping to implementing partners to ensure compliance with national protocols, SOPs, and guidelines.
• Assist senior staff in strategic technical support to the National Center for AIDS and STD Control and the National Public Health Laboratory.
• Implement the Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) package, including CD4 screening and opportunistic infection management.
• Organize and deliver training on HIV case management, community support, peer navigation, and AHD.
• Provide structured clinical mentorship and on‑site coaching at ART centers using standardized tools.
• Strengthen the viral load cascade, sample collection, result utilization, and enhanced adherence counseling.
• Promote community‑facility linkage mechanisms to improve retention and treatment outcomes.
• Coordinate with laboratory teams to support CD4, viral load, and early infant diagnosis services.

Required profile

• Experience in HIV program implementation and technical support.
• Familiarity with national HIV protocols, SOPs, and guidelines.
• Ability to deliver training and mentorship to health‑care teams.
• Strong coordination skills with clinical, laboratory, and community partners.
