Junior Client Accountant

About the role

Shankar Associates, Chartered Accountants (SACA) is seeking a Junior Client Accountant to support its audit, tax and consulting practice in Kathmandu. The role offers exposure to a variety of accounting, tax and payroll tasks for a portfolio of clients.

Key responsibilities

• Financial Accounting & Operations – maintain general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, cash‑bank transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, invoice processing and month‑end closing.
• Taxation & Statutory Compliance – prepare and file VAT, TDS and other tax returns, calculate and remit payments, and coordinate with tax authorities.
• Payroll & Salary Management – process monthly payroll, statutory deductions (TDS, SSF), and generate payroll reports.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis – produce MIS, monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, budgeting, cash‑flow monitoring and variance analysis.
• Client Coordination & Team Support – communicate with clients, obtain required documents, review junior staff work and assist in training.
• Accounting Software & Systems – use Tally or client‑specific accounting software, ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).
• 1–2 years of relevant experience, preferably with hands‑on exposure to TDS, VAT, payroll, SSF and statutory compliance.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and bookkeeping.
• Proficiency with Tally or similar accounting software.
• Analytical, numerical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
