Procurement Officer

About the role

The Procurement Officer will coordinate and manage the procurement of locally sourced food products and raw materials from farmers, suppliers, and producer groups, supporting Sarvaguna’s mission to strengthen local food systems for institutional catering.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day procurement of locally sourced food products and raw materials based on kitchen and institutional requirements.
• Identify, assess and maintain relationships with local farmers, suppliers, producer groups and vendors, gathering information on availability, prices, quality and seasonal capacity.
• Negotiate prices and terms to ensure fair, cost‑effective procurement while monitoring quality, quantity and freshness of supplies.
• Maintain accurate procurement records, purchase orders and supplier data, and collaborate with kitchen, operations, finance and impact teams.
• Monitor supplier performance, address issues related to delivery or quality, and support the diversification of local supplier networks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Agriculture or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of procurement/purchasing/supply‑chain experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 1 year with a Master’s degree.
• Experience working with local farmers, suppliers or producer groups is a plus.
• Good knowledge of local markets, suppliers and agricultural products.

• Procurement and negotiation expertise.
• Ability to work effectively with farmers, suppliers and internal teams while maintaining confidentiality.
• Willingness to travel locally to farms and suppliers.
• Attention to detail, procedural compliance and independent work capability.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
