Project Officer – Digital (PROSPER)

About the role

The Project Officer – Digital will lead the digital component of the PROSPER project, strengthening the digital capacity of Bank Saathi, cooperatives, partner staff and SMEs across selected districts in Nepal. The role combines digital finance, technology adoption and capacity‑building activities to improve financial inclusion and market access for rural agricultural actors.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the focal point for all digital initiatives, overseeing the digitisation of the FEBL Lite curriculum and electronic transaction systems.
• Promote technology‑enabled solutions for financial inclusion, market linkage and enterprise development.
• Coordinate with financial institutions, fintech and agritech partners to pilot and scale appropriate digital services.
• Build digital capacity of project staff, partners, cooperatives and SMEs through training, coaching and technical support.
• Develop and maintain a digital inventory of buyers, MSMEs, service providers and business opportunities.
• Monitor digital adoption, transaction volumes and partnership performance, preparing regular reports and recommendations.
• Identify agricultural cooperatives and farmer clusters for project implementation and deliver financial‑literacy training.
• Provide intensive agri‑business support to youth and returnee migrants, facilitating peer learning and awareness‑raising campaigns.

Required profile

• Experience in managing digital finance or technology‑driven development projects.
• Familiarity with agricultural cooperatives, financial inclusion and SME development in rural contexts.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑stakeholder partnerships and deliver capacity‑building activities.
• Willingness to travel extensively (minimum 75% of the year) across project districts.
