Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer will lead the engineering department of a hotel in Bandipur, ensuring the reliable operation, safety and efficiency of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the role combines hands‑on technical oversight with team leadership and vendor management.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, safety and reliability of all MEP systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Manage HT/LT electrical distribution, including MDB, SMDB, DB panels, capacitor banks, busbars, MCC and control panels.
• Monitor electrical load, power quality, voltage fluctuations, harmonics, earthing and lightning protection.
• Supervise transformer, substation and diesel generator (DG) operation, testing, synchronization and fuel consumption.
• Direct HVAC systems (AHU, FAU, VRF/VRV, split AC), ensuring indoor air quality, guest comfort and energy efficiency.
• Control water treatment facilities (STP, WTP, softeners, pumps) and complete plumbing networks.
• Maintain fire safety systems, lifts, electronic door locks, access control and kitchen/laundry equipment.
• Develop and execute preventive‑maintenance schedules, maintain asset registers and spare‑parts inventories.
• Prepare engineering budgets, monitor utility consumption and drive energy‑saving initiatives.
• Lead, train and evaluate engineering technicians and maintenance staff, providing 24/7 emergency support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Registration with the Nepal Engineering Council preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of hotel or large‑commercial engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience managing MEP systems, DG sets, HVAC, fire protection and water treatment in remote locations.
