Communications Analyst – UN Women (Kathmandu)

About the role

The Communications Analyst will support the UN Women Country Representative in planning and implementing communication and advocacy strategies that raise the profile of UN Women among partners, media and the public in Nepal. The role works closely with programme, operations and technical teams as well as external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute communication and outreach strategies, ensuring a gender perspective is integrated.
• Conduct communication needs assessments for projects, programmes and corporate initiatives.
• Monitor print and social media, produce analytical reports and advise on visibility opportunities.
• Coordinate UN Women and UN system campaigns, special events and flagship initiatives.
• Develop and disseminate advocacy materials, including briefing notes, press releases, human‑interest stories, speeches, articles and multimedia content.
• Manage translation, adaptation and distribution of publications and audiovisual products in line with HQ and regional guidelines.
• Lead media relations: maintain press databases, respond to inquiries, organise press conferences, round‑tables and briefings, and draft talking points and key messages for senior management.
• Build and maintain partnerships with donors, civil‑society organisations, government bodies and other communication allies to enhance visibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communications, advocacy or public information, preferably within an international development or UN context.
• Strong understanding of gender equality issues and ability to embed this perspective in messaging.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners.
• Ability to produce high‑quality written content for diverse audiences.
