Communications Officer for Integrated Climate Adaptation Solutions

About the role

The Communications Officer will support the Integrated Climate Adaptation Solutions for the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HI‑CAS) project, delivering climate‑resilient, nature‑positive livelihoods across Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. Based in Kathmandu, the role bridges project research, gender‑responsive adaptation strategies and outreach to rural women and Indigenous Peoples.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a communication strategy that highlights project outcomes and gender‑responsive adaptation solutions.
• Produce a range of communication materials, including briefs, newsletters, videos, and social media content.
• Manage the project’s website and social media channels, ensuring timely updates and audience engagement.
• Coordinate with partners, donors and media to amplify project visibility.
• Monitor media coverage and evaluate communication impact, preparing regular reports for the project team.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, Environmental Studies or a related field.
• Minimum four years (48 months) of professional experience in communications, preferably within development or climate‑adaptation projects.
• Strong understanding of gender‑responsive and rights‑based approaches in climate adaptation.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills; knowledge of local languages is an asset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Content Management Systems (CMS) for website updates.
• Experience managing social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
• Basic graphic‑design abilities using tools like Canva or Adobe Photoshop.
