Engineering Manager – Data

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager – Data to lead our data engineering team. This role blends hands‑on data engineering expertise with technical leadership and people management, turning business data needs into reliable, scalable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and manage a team of data engineers, overseeing performance, career growth and technical development.
• Plan and execute data engineering projects from requirements gathering through production deployment.
• Design and guide the architecture of scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
• Review SQL, Python code, data models, pipelines and infrastructure changes while upholding engineering standards.
• Ensure data platforms are reliable, secure, performant and maintainable.
• Oversee data quality, validation, monitoring, testing, CI/CD, deployment and production support.
• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for platform improvement.
• Collaborate with analysts, BI teams, software engineers, product owners and business leaders to define priorities and deliver solutions.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding and talent development for the data engineering function.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering or a related technical field.
• 3‑5 years of experience leading or managing data engineering teams.
• Strong hands‑on experience with SQL, relational databases, ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing.
• Deep understanding of data‑warehouse architecture, dimensional modeling and database performance tuning.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical strategies and engineering plans.
