Field Research Specialist

About the role

The Field Research Specialist will lead the day‑to‑day implementation of a mixed‑methods study evaluating the adoption of a new e‑ticketing system for public transport in Nepal. Working from Kathmandu and travelling across the country, you will translate the research design into practical tools, manage field operations, analyse data and produce the final reports.

Key responsibilities

• Design survey, observation and interview instruments based on the study design.
• Plan and coordinate fieldwork across Kathmandu Valley, inter‑city and rural routes.
• Recruit, train and supervise a field team of assistants and enumerators.
• Conduct on‑site data collection on buses and at stops.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data and draft comprehensive study reports.
• Collaborate with the ASIA research lead, methods adviser and project partners.

Required profile

• At least 60 months (5 years) of relevant field research experience.
• Proven ability to design and implement mixed‑methods surveys and observations.
• Experience managing field teams and coordinating travel logistics within Nepal.
• Strong analytical skills and experience writing research reports.

What we offer

• Gross monthly remuneration up to 185,000 NPR (exclusive of pro‑rata Dashain allowance).
• Fixed‑term contract for 10 months, with possible extension to 12 months.
