Humanitarian Affairs Officer

About the role

The Humanitarian Affairs Officer will support the flood response in Rasuwa and surrounding areas, reinforcing UN field‑level coordination during the immediate response period. Reporting to the RCO/OCHA Bidur Hub lead, the incumbent will work closely with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and affected communities to ensure a common understanding of needs and priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site humanitarian coordination, facilitating field meetings with local authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and Red Cross/Red Crescent actors.
• Monitor humanitarian conditions, conduct rapid assessments, and consolidate observations into situation updates and recommendations for OCHA leadership.
• Promote complementarity among responders, identify duplication and gaps, and support follow‑up on agreed coordination actions.
• Support accountability to affected people through community consultations, feedback mechanisms and safe reporting channels for sexual exploitation and abuse.
• Maintain regular information exchange between responders and national/regional coordination structures, tracking community feedback and flagging critical gaps.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in humanitarian coordination, preferably in disaster‑affected settings.
• Ability to work closely with government, UN partners and NGOs, fostering constructive relationships.
• Strong analytical skills to produce concise situation updates and recommendations.
• Willingness to travel frequently to affected communities and response locations.
