Intellectual Property Expert (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Intellectual Property (IP) Subject Matter Expert to join our remote contractor team. In this hourly role you will evaluate AI‑generated IP responses, create high‑quality IP content, and provide precise feedback that improves the accuracy and clarity of AI legal reasoning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training material such as detailed prompts, issue analyses, clause rewrites, checklists, and policy‑style guidance.
• Evaluate and rank AI‑generated IP answers for correctness, defensibility, clarity, and risk awareness.
• Test AI outputs for inaccuracies, over‑confidence, confidentiality risks, and bias across a range of IP scenarios.
• Provide written explanations, model answers, and step‑by‑step issue analyses that demonstrate sound legal reasoning.
• Identify and document errors in IP issue spotting, rights analysis, infringement logic, licensing considerations, and procedural steps.

Required profile

• JD/LLB (or equivalent) with active bar membership (or eligibility) in at least one jurisdiction; registration to practice before a patent office is a plus.
• 5+ years of professional experience in IP law (law firm, in‑house, or government) covering copyright, trademark, patent, trade secrets, or licensing.
• Strong IP issue‑spotting and structured analysis skills, including rights, scope, ownership, infringement, defenses, and remedies.
• Experience drafting and reviewing IP agreements such as assignments, NDAs, license agreements, work‑for‑hire, and open‑source licensing.
• Excellent attention to detail, C1‑level English proficiency, and ability to explain complex IP concepts in plain language.
