Laboratory Technologist

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to provide technical support for Migration Health Assessments and related programmes in Kathmandu. Working under the Chief Migration Health Officer and the Senior Laboratory Technologist, you will ensure high‑quality laboratory services for migrants and refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical support for laboratory activities linked to Migration Health Assessments (HAP) and other health programmes.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment in accordance with national regulations.
• Implement and monitor laboratory quality management systems.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety and biosecurity standards.
• Collect, record, and analyse laboratory data to support continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Sciences, Microbiology or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid professional licence to practice.
• Minimum three years of relevant clinical laboratory experience for degree holders, or five years for diploma holders.
• Familiarity with national laboratory regulations and standards.
