Laboratory Technologist – Migration Health

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks a Laboratory Technologist to support Migration Health Assessments and related programmes in Kathmandu, Nepal. Working under the Chief Migration Health Officer and the Senior Laboratory Technologist, you will ensure accurate, timely laboratory results for migrants and refugees.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑examination, examination and post‑examination laboratory procedures using standard equipment.
• Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of laboratory quality management systems.
• Act as focal point for one or more Quality System Essentials (QSE) as assigned.
• Strictly follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and biosafety protocols.
• Organise workflow at the assigned station to deliver results efficiently.
• Carry out quality control and quality assurance activities for designated tests.

Required profile

• Works under overall supervision of the Chief Migration Health Officer and direct supervision of the Senior Laboratory Technologist.
• Demonstrates commitment to laboratory safety and quality standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and use of standard laboratory equipment.
• Knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures.
• Familiarity with biosafety measures and SOP compliance.
