National Information Officer

About the role

The National Information Officer will lead UN communications in Nepal, supporting the UN Country Team and Resident Coordinator Office. Based at UNIC Kathmandu, the role focuses on strategic outreach, media engagement, and public information in English and Nepali.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement country‑wide strategic communication plans and campaigns aligned with the Global Communications Strategy.
• Serve as Secretariat for the UNCT Communication and Advocacy Group, coordinating with UN partners and DGC UNHQ.
• Maintain and update the UNCT website and social media channels in multiple languages, ensuring compliance with UN governance and information security.
• Draft high‑quality print and digital communication products, conduct media outreach, and organize press events.
• Monitor public opinion and media coverage, providing analysis and recommendations to senior UN officials.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of UNIC Kathmandu, including budgeting, equipment management, and reporting.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, media campaigns, and crisis communications.
• Strong ability to advise on communications challenges, develop strategies, and manage implementation across diverse audiences.
