Software Development Engineer (Python and Java)

About the role

IQVIA is looking for a Software Development Engineer (Python and Java) to join its Product Development team. You will design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and data processing solutions that support critical business and analytics platforms, working with Java, Python, Snowflake, AWS and big data frameworks in an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and ETL/data pipelines using Java and Python.
• Build and optimize data processing workflows for performance, reliability and scalability.
• Develop software supporting business analytics, reporting and data-driven decisions, and work with large datasets and cloud platforms to ensure data quality and integrity.
• Integrate applications and data pipelines with AWS services such as S3 and Lambda.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring and quality assurance, and participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to CI/CD and DevOps best practices and collaborate with product, engineering and infrastructure teams.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system performance and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
• 2-4 years of professional experience in software development, backend engineering or data engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and Java.
• Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, MapReduce or similar.
• AWS services, especially S3 and Lambda.
• Git and CI/CD pipelines; familiarity with Agile.
• Nice to have: Snowflake and Snowpark, Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions, data governance and lineage, observability, distributed systems, healthcare or analytics product experience.
