Technology for Development Specialist

About the role

The Technology for Development (T4D) Specialist will lead and coordinate the integration of digital technologies and innovation across programmes and operations at UNICEF Nepal. Reporting to senior programme and operations leaders, the role provides strategic and technical expertise to strengthen digital solutions for programme delivery, monitoring, and operational effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support UNICEF Nepal’s T4D portfolio, ensuring alignment with programme needs.
• Identify, assess, and integrate ICT and digital innovation into UNICEF programming.
• Strengthen internal capacity for T4D initiatives and engage strategic partners.
• Apply reusable technical building blocks and promote scale‑up and sustainability of digital solutions.
• Oversee digital/data solution implementation, policy compliance, and resource mobilization.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, ICT Management, Digital Transformation, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in ICT for Development, large‑scale technology projects, or UN/INGO programmatic work.
• Proficiency in English and Nepali; knowledge of another UN language is a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with ICT4D/T4D, digital transformation, and innovation.
• Project management of large‑scale technology deployments.
• Mobile and web‑based technology solutions, system design, deployment, and integration.
• Data and digital solutions for programme delivery.
• Familiarity with UNICEF/UN digital ecosystem and platforms such as RapidPro, Primero, DHIS2, ODK.
• Software development, source code management, and CI/CD tools (GitHub, Jenkins, CircleCI, Travis CI).
