Aquaculture Grants Support Intern

About the role

The internship supports the USDA Food for Progress aquaculture modernization project in Nepal, providing field data collection, monitoring and reporting for in‑kind grants. Interns act as the day‑to‑day liaison between grantees and the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Record basic grantee information, file documentation, and capture GPS coordinates for each grant site.
• Attend equipment deliveries, verify specifications, support handover documentation, and photograph each stage.
• Conduct scheduled monitoring visits, collect indicator data, and draft monthly progress reports.
• Observe technical practices at grant sites, record water‑quality parameters, and contribute to case studies.
• Serve as the primary contact for grantees, relay communications, and assist coordination with local stakeholders.

Required profile

• Final‑year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Aquatic Sciences or related field.
• Fluent in Nepali and able to draft reports in English.
• Willingness to be based in or travel regularly to assigned districts for the full six‑month period.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
• Ability to use GPS devices for site mapping.
• Basic data collection and documentation skills.
