Digital Health Trainee – S2HSS II

About the role

The Digital Health Trainee will support the Health Sector Strategy (S2HSS II) and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion initiatives in Nepal. Working under the Senior Technical Advisor, the trainee will assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing digital health activities with the Ministry of Health and other partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist GIZ advisors in coordinating with government, private sector, and development partners to operate and improve digital health systems such as DHIS2, openIMIS, EMR, and others.
• Contribute to technical briefs, concept notes, progress reports, and documentation of best practices and lessons learned.
• Support data quality, interoperability, and the use of health information for decision‑making.
• Maintain programme databases, track indicators, and help prepare periodic monitoring reports.
• Assist in organizing events, workshops, trainings and drafting related documentation.
• Conduct research on digital health trends, standards, and global best practices, and help produce visibility materials.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (final semester or completed) in Health Informatics.
• Up to 1 year of professional experience; internships or volunteer work in health or development projects acceptable.
• Familiarity with Nepal’s health system and development partners is desirable.
• Strong analytical, writing and documentation abilities, with very good English and Nepali communication skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on knowledge of at least one digital health tool (e.g., DHIS2, openIMIS, EMR).
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
