Lab Technologist

About the role

National Path Labs and Research Center is looking for a detail‑oriented Lab Technologist to join its Kathmandu laboratory. The role involves performing hands‑on tests, supporting experiments and ensuring the laboratory operates in compliance with statutory and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests in the assigned department following established procedures.
• Isolate and identify specimens using advanced techniques while maintaining result integrity.
• Run daily internal controls and review Levey‑Jennings (LJ) curves, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Monitor test turnaround times and evaluate results for validity and accuracy.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, maintain and validate laboratory instruments.
• Document all complications, corrective actions and maintain daily logs and equipment records.
• Identify non‑conformities and risks, informing senior staff promptly.
• Adhere to safety, environmental and infection‑control protocols, including proper disposal of biological samples and chemicals.
• Collect, process and handle blood or other biological specimens when a phlebotomist is unavailable, and instruct patients on proper collection techniques.
• Participate in BL/ISO audits and suggest improvements to quality systems and testing kits.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum of 24 months (2 years) relevant laboratory experience.
• Detail‑oriented with strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to work independently and follow standard operating procedures.
• Good understanding of statutory and quality‑assurance requirements in a medical research setting.
