Local Security Assistant – Short‑Term

About the role

The United Nations Development Programme is seeking a Local Security Assistant on a short‑term basis to support security operations in Bidur, Nuwakot, Nepal. Reporting to the UNDSS Multi‑Country Office Security Adviser, the incumbent will assist in implementing the United Nations Security Management System (UNSMS) within the assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, verify and disseminate security information and incident reports for the assigned area.
• Maintain day‑to‑day coordination with the Area Security Coordinator and serve as secretary to the Area Security Management Team.
• Liaise with national, provincial and local authorities, including police, military and emergency services.
• Support the preparation and implementation of regional security plans and security risk‑management measures.
• Organise and deliver security training and orientation briefings for newly assigned staff.
• Assist in emergency preparedness, contingency planning and response activities, including personnel accountability and warden arrangements.
