Logistics Assistant – Flood Response

About the role

The incumbent will provide logistics support for IOM Nepal’s flood and emergency response operations, ensuring compliance with IOM rules, donor requirements and local regulations. Working under the guidance of the Chief of Mission and the Head of Resources Management, the role involves coordinating customs clearance, warehouse management and last‑mile delivery of relief items.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate customs clearance, duty‑exemption and shipping documentation for relief consignments.
• Manage receipt, inspection, storage, handling and dispatch of incoming and outgoing relief items.
• Maintain accurate warehouse and inventory records in IOM systems and support regular physical counts.
• Plan and oversee cargo transport and last‑mile delivery by road, air or other modes, ensuring timely receipt at final destinations.
• Liaise with government authorities, freight forwarders, transporters and implementing partners to facilitate smooth operations.
• Prepare donation handover documentation and support accountable distribution of relief items.
• Monitor logistics service providers, report delays or non‑conformities and assist with cargo insurance claims.
• Produce logistics updates, shipment trackers and inventory reports for operational and donor reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business management, marketing, accounting or related field with at least 2 years of experience, or secondary education with 4 years of experience.
• Proven experience in logistics operations, warehouse and inventory management, customs clearance, cargo transportation and goods distribution.
• Fluency in English and Nepali (oral and written) is mandatory.
