Operating Systems Tutor (Part‑time)

About the role

Islington College in Kathmandu seeks a knowledgeable Operating Systems Tutor to support its MSc IT programme. The tutor will deliver lectures, lead practical workshops, and guide students through hands‑on lab activities focused on Windows and Linux server environments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct lectures and practical sessions on operating system concepts and server administration.
• Design and supervise lab exercises using virtualization tools such as VirtualBox, VMware, or Hyper‑V.
• Assess assignments, coursework, lab work, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
• Monitor student attendance, engagement, and academic progress.
• Maintain laboratory resources, equipment, and virtual learning environments.
• Ensure teaching content aligns with module specifications and learning outcomes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of operating systems and server administration.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Windows Server 2019/2022 administration (AD DS, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP).
• Linux server administration, user/file management, package handling.
• Ability to write and explain basic Bash scripts.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VirtualBox, VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Strong troubleshooting skills for both Windows and Linux environments.
