Plant Incharge – Electrical Engineer (Hydropower)

About the role

We are seeking a Plant Incharge with a strong electrical engineering background to lead operations at a 20 MW+ hydropower facility in Ramechhap, Nepal. The role focuses on ensuring reliable power generation, grid compliance, and optimal plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the operations team, including shift engineers and technical staff.
• Manage grid synchronization and ensure adherence to national grid codes.
• Operate and monitor SCADA and telemetry systems to optimise real‑time output.
• Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance plans for electrical and hydro‑mechanical equipment.
• Direct emergency response, troubleshooting, and plant start‑up procedures.
• Promote a safety‑first culture and enforce occupational health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the hydropower sector, preferably on plants of 20 MW or larger.
• Proven ability to manage plant operations, start‑ups, and emergency protocols.

Required skills

• High‑voltage switchyard configuration knowledge.
• Protection relay setting expertise.
• Generation control systems familiarity.
• SCADA and telemetry system operation.
