Program Director – Disaster Response

About the role

The Program Director will lead a dynamic nonprofit team that helps communities recover after disasters and supports children’s return to school. This full‑time position oversees the strategic development, budgeting, and delivery of multiple projects while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and humanitarian standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage overall program operations, ensuring successful completion of all projects.
• Onboard, supervise, and empower a diverse staff of 2‑4 direct reports.
• Maintain program budget, timeline compliance, and financial forecasting.
• Support operations and project teams to meet targets within approved time and budget constraints.
• Enforce All Hands and Hearts policies, conduct disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency, safety, and security protocols.
• Oversee weekly and monthly reporting and keep program tracking systems up to date.
• Collaborate with local partners and ensure legal compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• 2+ years experience in disaster response, preferably with All Hands and Hearts.
• 1+ years of project management experience, including budget tracking and reporting.
• 2+ years of team management experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; Nepali language preferred.
• Strong leadership, delegation, and organizational abilities in fast‑paced environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Familiarity with international humanitarian standards such as Sphere and HAP.
