Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will be based in Kathmandu and work full‑time on‑site to design, implement and oversee M&E frameworks for UNICEF‑supported programmes. The role ensures high‑quality data collection, analysis and reporting to inform evidence‑based decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain monitoring and evaluation frameworks, including indicators, data collection tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Oversee system monitoring, coordinate routine data reviews and ensure data quality and consistency across programmes.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity‑building support to government counterparts and partners on M&E practices.
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses, prepare concise reports, dashboards and learning events.
• Support evaluations, surveys and contribute to strategic planning through evidence‑based insights.
• Collaborate with program teams, field offices and external stakeholders to strengthen results‑based management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, public health, statistics, economics, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in monitoring and evaluation within international development or humanitarian contexts, preferably with UN agencies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Nepali is an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
