GSE Maintenance Technician

About the role

Air India is seeking two GSE Maintenance Technicians to keep its ground support equipment operational at Tribhuvan International Airport. The role involves daily inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety and audit standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre‑operation inspections of all deployed GSE (baggage trolleys, tractors, belt loaders, GPUs, push‑back tractors, passenger coaches, tow bars).
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise downtime and keep equipment flight‑ready.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
• Maintain individual vehicle logbooks, maintenance records and servicing schedules.
• Ensure documentation meets airline audit requirements and civil aviation safety standards.
• Coordinate spare‑parts requirements and liaise with vendors or workshops for major repairs.
• Support ramp operations teams to guarantee GSE availability during peak flight schedules and seasonal surges.
• Report equipment defects, near‑misses and safety concerns promptly to the Station/Ramp Manager.
• Follow airside safety protocols, including FOD control, ramp safety and PPE usage.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Automobile Engineering (Bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory).
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands‑on experience in vehicle or heavy‑equipment maintenance.
• Prior experience with airport GSE, automotive workshops or industrial equipment maintenance is preferred.
• Experience working in an aviation or airside environment is an advantage.
• Ability to work rotational shifts, including early mornings, nights and holidays.
• Physically fit for airside/ramp work and willing to undergo AVSEC/police security clearance.
