Senior Specialist: Regional Information Services (RIS Lead)

About the role

The Senior Specialist leads the Regional Information Services (RIS) unit at ICIMOD, driving the development and delivery of high‑quality data, information and digital tools that support climate‑resilient decision‑making across the Hindu Kush Himalaya region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the RIS portfolio, ensuring alignment with ICIMOD’s Strategy 2030 and Medium‑Term Action Plans.
• Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary RIS team, setting clear objectives, monitoring performance and fostering collaboration.
• Oversee the creation and maintenance of regional datasets, GIS products, remote‑sensing analyses and advanced information systems.
• Integrate emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning and cloud computing into RIS workflows.
• Coordinate cross‑functional activities across ICIMOD’s strategic groups to avoid duplication and maximise impact.
• Lead risk management, communication and stakeholder coordination to ensure seamless delivery of services.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior leader in digital information services, data management or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and drive results in a complex, multi‑partner environment.
• Strong understanding of climate, environmental and development data needs in mountainous regions.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills across diverse stakeholder groups.
