Environment, Social and Climate Resilience Expert

About the role

The Environment, Social and Climate Resilience Expert will provide specialist, demand‑led technical assistance to integrate environmental sustainability, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, GEDSI and social safeguards into local government infrastructure systems across Nepal.

Key responsibilities

• Lead environment, social and climate resilience assignments, including mobile technical support to local governments.
• Strengthen environmental and social management systems and embed climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, GEDSI and safeguarding into infrastructure delivery.
• Assess institutional policies, procedures and planning processes to identify gaps and develop practical improvement plans.
• Mentor Support Engineers, generate evidence for programme learning and support policy engagement.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental, social and climate resilience within infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience working with local or provincial governments in Nepal or comparable settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead mobile technical assignments and produce actionable recommendations.
• Strong understanding of GEDSI, disaster risk reduction and occupational health and safety standards.
