Human Resources (HR) and Compliance Officer

About the role

The Human Resources (HR) and Compliance Officer will oversee all HR operations and ensure the company complies with Nepal’s labour legislation, internal policies and regulatory requirements. The role supports recruitment, employee lifecycle management, performance monitoring, training, and compliance across the head office and retail outlets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, selection, interviews and onboarding; prepare contracts, appointment and transfer letters.
• Maintain employee files, HR information systems, attendance, leave and overtime records; verify data for payroll.
• Manage probation reviews, annual performance appraisals, KPI tracking, promotions and confirmations.
• Address employee queries, handle grievances, disciplinary actions and organise engagement activities.
• Plan and monitor internal and external training programmes; keep training records and competency matrices.
• Ensure compliance with the Nepal Labour Act, Labour Rules, tax regulations and internal SOPs; assist in policy reviews.
• Maintain statutory licences, permits and insurance; coordinate renewals and keep compliance calendars.
• Conduct periodic HR and administrative audits, identify gaps and follow up on corrective actions.

Required profile

• Minimum 24 months of experience in HR and compliance functions.
• Good knowledge of Nepal’s Labour Act, Labour Rules and related tax regulations.
• Experience in recruitment, onboarding, performance management and employee relations.
• Ability to prepare HR documentation and support payroll processes.
• Familiarity with internal audit and risk management procedures.
