Mushroom Production Technician

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Mushroom Production Technician to manage and improve our mushroom cultivation operations. You will work hands‑on in a controlled grow‑room environment, ensuring high productivity, strict contamination control, and consistent product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the full cultivation cycle from substrate preparation and inoculation to incubation, fruiting, harvesting, and post‑harvest handling.
• Monitor and adjust environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, ventilation, and fresh‑air exchange.
• Inspect mushroom bags and batches for healthy colonisation, detect contamination, and troubleshoot growth issues.
• Maintain sanitation, hygiene, sterilisation, and aseptic practices throughout production.
• Keep accurate production, batch, environmental, yield, and contamination records.
• Supervise cultivation staff, enforce SOPs, and provide training on best practices.
• Assist in improving substrate formulations, cultivation methods, yields, and overall efficiency.
• Participate in R&D trials involving new species, strains, substrates, and techniques.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and traceability of raw materials, spawn, substrates, and harvested mushrooms.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology or a related field.
• Strong interest in mushroom cultivation and agricultural production.
• Good understanding of basic microbiology, contamination, hygiene and sterilisation.
• Ability to work hands‑on in a production/grow‑room setting, both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent observation, analytical, troubleshooting and record‑keeping abilities.
