Plant In-Charge – Steel Engineering Workshop

About the role

The Plant In-Charge will lead day‑to‑day operations of a steel engineering workshop located in Hetauda Industrial Estate, Makwanpur, Nepal. This full‑time, on‑site position involves planning production, supervising staff, coordinating maintenance and quality teams, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main contact point for clients and partners, handling complaints and resolving workshop issues.
• Promote workshop services to attract new business contracts and build relationships with local communities and industry groups.
• Coordinate plant visits, tours, and public events, and report major project milestones on time.
• Manage daily production schedules and output goals, ensuring machines and tools run safely and efficiently.
• Supervise workshop staff, engineers, and technicians, monitoring inventory of raw materials and spare parts.
• Enforce strict workplace health and safety rules, implement safety protocols, and foster a safe work culture.
• Diagnose technical breakdowns, reduce production downtime, and track production metrics to meet delivery commitments.
• Report operational performance to management, drive process improvements, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong plant operations and production management experience, including oversight of daily workflows and coordination of multiple teams.
• Experience in maintenance coordination and equipment handling with a practical understanding of mechanical or industrial engineering processes.
• Proven ability to implement safety management and compliance measures.
• Leadership and people‑management skills, with experience supervising staff and resolving shop‑floor issues.
• Organizational abilities to monitor inventory, track metrics, and support scheduling.
