Programme Associate – Micronutrients (SCL6)

About the role

The Programme Associate (Micronutrients) will support WFP Nepal’s food‑fortification agenda, focusing on rice, millet and sorghum. Working under the Programme Policy Officer (Nutrition Lead), the incumbent will coordinate technical, operational and partnership activities to scale up fortified food products and improve nutrition outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Support capacity strengthening of farmers, private sector and local government on production, branding, market linkage and value‑chain optimisation for millet and sorghum.
• Provide technical assistance to the Government of Nepal for developing social‑behaviour change strategies and knowledge‑management products that promote consumption of fortified foods.
• Liaise with government agencies, academia, and partners to generate evidence on nutritional quality, develop enrichment standards and facilitate their dissemination through trainings and workshops.
• Coordinate formation of technical working groups, organize regular meetings and ensure alignment of research methodologies, ethical clearances and data collection.
• Facilitate joint supervision and monitoring visits to fortified food production sites, laboratories and field locations, preparing monitoring tools and trackers.
• Document lessons learned, good practices and recommendations, and support the design of studies on consumer acceptability of fortified millet‑ and sorghum‑based products.
