Project Manager – Hydropower (Gandaki Province, Nepal)

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the full lifecycle of a hydropower development in Gandaki Province, Nepal, from initial design through construction, commissioning and commercial operation. The role ensures delivery on schedule, within budget and in compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, execute, monitor and close the hydropower project, achieving Commercial Operation Date (COD).
• Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical and hydrology teams to maintain technical excellence.
• Oversee construction of headworks, waterways, penstock, powerhouse, switchyard and transmission line.
• Manage schedules, budgets, procurement, contracts and resource allocation.
• Liaise with DoED, NEA, local authorities, consultants, contractors and community stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with EIA, environmental, social, quality and safety standards.
• Identify risks, implement corrective actions and report progress to management, investors and regulators.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Hydropower Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large infrastructure or hydropower projects.
• Successfully delivered at least two complete hydropower projects (including COD) of 50 MW or more.
• Strong knowledge of Nepal’s hydropower licensing, regulatory framework and grid‑connection procedures.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication abilities.
