Assistant Chief Engineer

About the role

The Assistant Chief Engineer will oversee the operation, maintenance, safety and reliability of all MEP systems at a hotel in Bandipur, Nepal. This senior position requires strong technical expertise across electrical, HVAC, water treatment and fire protection systems, as well as proven leadership of engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage HT/LT electrical distribution, panels, MDBs, SMDBs, DBs, MCCs, capacitor banks, busbars and control panels.
• Supervise transformer and sub‑station operations, testing, servicing and documentation.
• Oversee DG set synchronization, emergency backup, fuel consumption and load testing.
• Maintain HVAC equipment including AHUs, FAUs, VRF/VRV, split ACs, ventilation, exhaust and kitchen ventilation.
• Control water treatment facilities (STP, WTP, softeners, pumps, dosing systems) and ensure water quality.
• Ensure fire safety systems – alarm, hydrant, sprinkler, fire pumps, smoke detection, extinguishers, emergency lighting and gas suppression – are operational.
• Manage passenger lifts, dumbwaiters, electronic door locks and RFID access control.
• Lead preventive maintenance schedules, asset registers, spare‑parts inventory and engineering budgets.
• Coordinate vendors, contractors, AMCs, warranties and monitor energy consumption for cost‑saving initiatives.
• Provide 24/7 emergency engineering support and lead response to power failures, water shortages, HVAC breakdowns and fire incidents.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Electro‑Mechanical Engineering or related field (NEC registration preferred).
• Minimum 7 years of hotel or large‑building engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Experience managing engineering operations at remote sites.
• Strong knowledge of MEP systems, preventive maintenance, safety, compliance and energy management.
