Assistant Sales Manager – Modern Trade

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Sales Manager to drive the growth of our Modern Trade channel in Nepal. The role will focus on building a strong distribution and retail presence in Kathmandu Valley, with the aim of expanding into other major cities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Modern Trade sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
• Identify, onboard and manage relationships with modern trade retailers, supermarket chains, departmental and convenience stores.
• Drive product listing, shelf placement, visibility and availability across outlets.
• Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales and distribution targets; prepare forecasts and channel growth plans.
• Negotiate commercial terms, margins, promotions and trade schemes with key accounts.
• Coordinate with distributors and supply‑chain teams to ensure uninterrupted product availability and efficient order processing.
• Oversee in‑store execution, merchandising standards, POSM compliance and conduct regular store audits.
• Plan and evaluate channel‑specific promotions and trade‑marketing activities.
• Develop and implement a structured expansion plan beyond Kathmandu Valley.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Modern Trade, key account management and FMCG/consumer product sales.
• Demonstrated ability to build brands, grow sales and manage distributor networks.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills and experience in developing joint business plans.
• Track record of meeting sales targets and driving market penetration.
