Plant Head

About the role

Hulas Iron Industries Ltd. is seeking an experienced Plant Head to lead day‑to‑day manufacturing operations at its Birgunj facility. The role oversees both Wire and Tube & Pipe divisions, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety are met.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver daily and monthly production against the PPC plan for both divisions.
• Conduct daily shift handover meetings covering output, breakdowns, rejections, dispatch and safety.
• Coordinate plant services to align material, machinery and manpower with production plans.
• Enforce shift discipline, attendance, overtime and contract‑labour compliance per Labour Act 2074.
• Drive down conversion cost per tonne (power, zinc, dies, lubricants, fuel, consumables).
• Own housekeeping, 5S and safety in pickling, galvanising, drawing and tube‑mill areas.
• Escalate capacity, capital and reliability issues to the COO and execute approved debottlenecking.
• Build and coach division heads, managers, shift engineers and supervisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, metallurgical or production engineering.
• 15+ years experience in downstream steel (wire drawing/galvanising and/or ERW tube & pipe).
• Minimum 5 years in a plant head, works manager or head of operations role for a comparable multi‑line unit.
• Proven experience managing contract labour and conducting daily shift‑based reviews.
• Working knowledge of NS/IS specifications for galvanized wire, nails, barbed/binding wire and ERW/GI pipe (preferred).

• Wire drawing, annealing and galvanising processes.
• Production of barbed/binding wire, nails and ERW/GI pipe.
• Hollow section, slitting and threading operations.
• PPC coordination, maintenance, quality control and EHS management.
• Store and dispatch logistics.
• Knowledge of NS/IS specifications for galvanized products.
