Project Officer – Access to Finance

About the role

The Project Officer – Access to Finance will lead the financial inclusion component of the PROSPER project, strengthening the capacity of farmers, cooperatives and partner organisations to access and use financial services.

Key responsibilities

• Identify agricultural cooperatives and farmer clusters for project implementation.
• Design and deliver courses on financial, business and digital literacy, using tools such as Bank Saathis and GeoKrishi Farm.
• Redesign and implement the FEBL Lite model to improve financial education for small‑holder farmers.
• Provide intensive agri‑business support to youth and returnee migrants, facilitating market linkages and investment opportunities.
• Coordinate with banks, MFIs, fintech and agri‑tech partners to deliver farmer‑friendly financial products.
• Support loan documentation, monitoring and reporting on repayment, market outcomes and partnerships.
• Strengthen cooperatives’ business hub functions by upgrading digital infrastructure, improving governance and financial management systems, and building staff capacity to design and broker financial and non‑financial products.

Required profile

• Experience in financial inclusion, agricultural development or related fields.
• Proven ability to work with cooperatives, SMEs and financial institutions.
• Willingness to travel extensively (minimum 75% of the time) across project areas.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills for training and peer‑support meetings.
