Public Health Expert – Remote Contractor

About the role

This hourly, remote contractor position is for a Public Health Subject Matter Expert who will review AI‑generated public‑health responses, create expert content, and provide precise written feedback. Your work will directly improve the accuracy, safety, and clarity of AI models used by leading AI companies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training content: create detailed prompts and gold‑standard answers across epidemiology, public‑health practice, policy, prevention, and risk‑communication topics.
• Optimize AI performance: evaluate, rank, and annotate AI responses to enhance correctness, clarity, contextual relevance, and scientific rigor.
• Ensure model integrity: test AI outputs for inaccuracies, misleading evidence, unsafe recommendations, and bias; validate reliability across populations and settings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (MPH preferred) or equivalent professional experience in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, or related fields.
• 5+ years of professional experience in public‑health roles (government, NGOs, academia, healthcare systems, consulting, etc.).
• Strong confidence in public‑health reasoning, causal thinking, bias awareness, and risk stratification.
• Deep understanding of disease processes at the population level, prevention strategies, screening, vaccination, and health‑behavior frameworks.
• Excellent attention to detail for fact‑checking, identifying unsafe assumptions, and evaluating statistical interpretations.
• Reliable, self‑directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote workflow across time zones.
• Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, guideline work, systematic reviews, program evaluation, policy analysis, or editorial QA is strongly preferred.
