Scrap & Heavy Equipment Trading Officer

About the role

The Scrap & Heavy Equipment Trading Officer will be based on‑site in Kathmandu and will drive the sourcing, negotiation and sale of scrap materials and heavy machinery. Reporting to senior management, the officer will ensure trading activities align with the company’s business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and engage potential suppliers and buyers for scrap and heavy equipment.
• Negotiate purchase and sale terms, prepare quotations and contracts.
• Coordinate inspections, logistics and delivery of materials and machinery.
• Track inventory levels, pricing trends and market data.
• Conduct market research to uncover new opportunities and monitor competitor activity.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align trading operations with business goals.
• Prepare accurate reports and forecasts for management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in scrap trading, heavy‑equipment sales or industrial commodities trading.
• Strong negotiation and deal‑closing abilities.
• Knowledge of market pricing, procurement processes and basic logistics.
• Ability to build and maintain vendor and customer relationships.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluency in English and local languages with strong written communication.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Kathmandu and travel for field visits.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel for data recording and reporting.
• Use of trading‑related software to track inventory, pricing and transactions.
