Project Coordinator – Policy Advocacy

About the role

The Project Coordinator (Policy Advocacy) will lead the policy‑advocacy component of the Surakshit Awash Program in Kanchanpur district, Nepal. Working closely with NEEDS Nepal and Habitat for Humanity Nepal, the coordinator will drive efforts to strengthen legal frameworks and improve land and housing rights for vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze existing policy and legal frameworks related to housing, land rights and disaster risk reduction.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based advocacy strategies targeting provincial and local governments.
• Build the capacity of government institutions and community groups to adopt climate‑resilient and inclusive housing policies.
• Facilitate coordination among Bedkot and Shuklaphanta municipalities, provincial authorities and development partners.
• Monitor and report on progress of the SASWIN project, ensuring alignment with the overall program objectives.
• Document best practices and lessons learned to inform future advocacy initiatives.

Required profile

• National citizen of Nepal with a degree in public policy, law, social sciences or a related field.
• Proven experience in policy analysis, advocacy or development programming, preferably in housing or disaster risk reduction.
• Strong understanding of Nepal’s provincial and local governance structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Nepali.
• Commitment to safeguarding, zero‑tolerance for exploitation and adherence to organizational code of conduct.
